Classic Hawaiian Maiden
I originally purchased this classic pattern shirt about 2001 and it has always been a favorite. I was excited to see Avanti has reintroduced it and immediately purchased a new one.
Reina Del Mar y Reina De Mi Corazon
As a lifelong, hardened Hawaiian shirt enthusiast, I'm always on the search for my next coveted Tiki Shirt. About a month ago, I received an email from the fine folks at Avanti Hawaii letting me know about some fresh drops. The moment I opened that email, my life changed. For in that email was this absolute gem of a shirt. I immediately jumped on the AH website and ordered what I thought was my right size - Medium. Over the years, while I've seldom met a Hawaiian Shirt I don't like, I've found that it's hard to know the right size & fit when ordering online. I've had countless that were incredibly too small and too tight, and others that were wayyyyy to loose. As they say, every clothing brand is different. To say that I was pleasantly surprised by this shirt is an absolute understatement. This shirt fit PERFECTLY. Side Note: I'm right between 6'0" & 6'1", and I clock in on the bathroom scale at 167. What really drew me to this shirt, though, was the design layout and aesthetic: the stark-black silk base, the extra-wide camp collar, the classic fit that's both structured enough to be flattering, and loose enough to be breathable, and the printed front pockets & collar that repeat on the back to perfectly frame the beloved Hawaiian Maiden as she sits in wait. It's all so perfect! I immediately got all the vibes, from vintage bowling shirt, to OG Bay Area Tiki Bars, to solo-Michael McDonald, and of course, both Magnums'. Fun Fact: the current Magnum PI reboot, combined with a little google searching, is where I first learned about the magic and history that is Avanti Hawaii. I am so absolutely stoked on this shirt! I'd be lying if I said it won't easily become a staple of my wardrobe, especially during these cold, Midwestern winter months. Something tells me this shirt will go great with a bucket of shrimp, bottomless Mai Tai's, and some fresh Key Lime Pie!
